Excellent examination of Patti Smith the American artist. The film itself has weaknesses, but for a first effort, the filmmaker captures his subject just right: the documentary is artistic and stylish, without being pretentious, just like Patti. Perhaps because Sebring also didn't know much about his subject before starting this documentary, he manages to present Smith as an artist first and foremost, and the "rock icon," while a product of her artistry, is literally a one-liner. Although I'm a die-hard fan, and I have few icons, I went with a friend who doesn't know much about Patti, and he appreciated the film as much as I did.

I enjoyed learning about Patti and her life. I really liked listening to her music throughout the movie not to mention hearing some of her poetry.. I didn't know much about her before this movie. My girlfriend had me listen to some of her music and I was like "WOW" she is really good. She a one very talented lady...
